The new Yakima eatery Captain Crab & Ramen (420 S. 72nd Ave., at the corner of 72nd and Tieton Drive) combines Louisiana seafood and ramen for a strange yet delightful experience. If the only ramen you’ve ever had is the instant ramen noodles that you buy in bulk, then you are in for a treat.
This restaurant features an astonishing array of appetizers, including the Japanese pork bun and chicken karaage (meaning “tang fry”). There is also a variety of options for the main course, including a mix of ramen noodles and seafood combinations. You can choose from four different seafood combinations or choose from specific crustaceans that can be purchased by the pound.
As for the ramen, there are 11 different options ranging from miso to seafood to vegetable. My personal favorite is the chicken rich ramen, which features hearty broth, chicken, ramen noodles, seaweed, bamboo sticks and fish cakes.
Captain Crab and Ramen is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., with hours extended to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. If you’re looking to upgrade your ramen experience, I highly recommend stopping in.
