SHORELINE — Selah came much closer to beating powerhouse Columbia River in the 2A semifinals the second time around.

Goalkeeper Madysen Muir and the Vikings defense led by senior Ashlyn Hall stood tall, holding off a dynamic offense for most of the match. But Chieftains senior standout Yaneisy Rodriguez found the only breakthrough early in the second half, handing Selah a 1-0 loss with the game-winning goal against the Viks for the second time in four years.

Three-time CWAC offensive player of the year Isabelle Moultray saw frequent double teams and Selah struggled to create opportunities as Columbia River picked up its 13th shutout of the season. It was the first time Selah failed to score since a 1-0 loss at Burlington-Edison in last year's 2A quarterfinals.

Seven senior starters will take the field for Selah one last time in Saturday's third-place match against Ridgfield at Shoreline Stadium, with kickoff set for noon. The Vikings fell to 19-2 after suffering just their third loss in the last two seasons.

First half: No goals.

Second half: 1, Columbia River, Yaneisy Rodriguez (Julia Cash), 49:00.

Riverside Christian shut out by Life Christian

Riverside Christian found a way to slow down a Life Christian offense that scored 15 goals in the first two meetings between the schools.

Unfortunately for the Crusaders, they couldn't find much offense of their own in a 2-0 semifinal loss at Sunset Chev Stadium. Riverside Christian will face Crosspoint in Saturday's 1B/2B third-place match scheduled for noon on Saturday.
