ELLENSBURG, Wash. — For the fifth straight year Ellensburg’s volleyball team will enter the Class 2A state tournament as the CWAC district champion.

Sparked by a season-high 18 kills from sophomore Reaghan Naboychik, the Bulldogs shook off a slow start and powered their way to a 19-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-15 victory over Selah in the district finale Thursday night.

Senior middle Payton Lyyski recorded 12 kills while Maia Valencia and Leah Stueckle combined for 38 assists, 19 digs and five aces as Ellensburg upped its overall non-tournament record to 15-1.

Ellensburg and Selah now have a week to gear up for the state tournament, which has been moved from Saint Martin’s University in Lacey to Central Washington University. Pairings for the Nov. 15-16 tournament will been announced Sunday.

In the crossover seeding match, Prosser outlasted Ephrata in five sets to earn a winner-to-state home match against Cheney on Saturday.
