CONNELL, Wash. — Granger will head to the SunDome next week as the proud owners of a 13-match winning streak.

After sweeping Kiona-Benton 25-15, 25-17, 25-22 in the semifinals, the Spartans captured the SCAC district title by beating La Salle for the third time in four meetings, 25-21, 17-25, 25-14, 25-23. Lily Stewart posted 37 kills and 23 digs on the day, while setter Naya Roettger added 55 assists and 18 digs.

The Lightning swept Zillah 25-14, 25-14, 25-15 in the semifinals to earn their state berth before Naches Valley punched its ticket by rallying for a 25-22, 17-25, 23-25, 25-11, 15-10 win over the Leopards. Joelle Forbes finished the day with 60 kills and 68 assists to lead the Rangers, who swept College Place in their first loser-out game and took third place by beating Kiona-Benton 26-24, 36-34, 23-25, 25-23.

The draw for the 1A state tournament will be determined on Sunday.

PROSSER REACHES STATE: Behind a 17-kill, 11-block performance from Ashley Ripplinger, Prosser swept past East Valley of Spokane on Saturday to secure a spot in the Class 2A state volleyball tournament.

Prosser won 25-14, 25-16, 25-16 to win the CWAC-Great Northern League crossover match.

Jenna Schnellbach added 12 kills and nine digs, and Kayla Lind had 26 assists and six aces for the Mustangs, who advance to state this coming Friday and Saturday at Saint Martin’s College in Lacey.

Selah was swept at top-ranked Pullman in a winner-to-state, loser-out CWAC-GNL crossover match Saturday. No scores or highlights were reported.

KNIGHTS EARN STATE BERTH: At Sunnyside, Sunnyside Christian swept past Three Rivers Christian 25-22, 25-14, 25-15 in a Bi-district match to qualify for the Class 1B state tournament that begins Thursday in the SunDome.

Ellensburg to state

ELLENSBURG — Dylan Phillip scored three minutes into the second overtime to help Ellensburg outlast Cheney 3-2 on Saturday and qualify for the Class 2A state tournament.

The Bulldogs built a 2-0 lead with goals in each half, but Cheney scored twice in the final 20 minutes to force overtime. Ellensburg will play at Sequim next week.
