TACOMA — Jay Dumas’ first season as head coach at Davis got off to a rousing start Friday night.

Offense, defense, special teams — you name it.

In his first start at quarterback, junior Jose Reyes threw for two touchdowns and ran one in as the Pirates routed Mount Tahoma 48-0 at Nordi Field.

Reyes connected on passing touchdowns with Jackson Curtsinger and Marcus Cook, both seniors.

Davis also pounded away with a bruising ground game as Miguel Ceja, a returning two-way starter, rushed for two touchdowns and Reymundo Gutierrez and Malaciah Cook had one score each.

The Pirates opened last season with a 30-6 win over Mount Tahoma in Yakima.

Individual statistics were not available at press time.

The Pirates will host Lewis & Clark for their home opener at Zaepfel Stadium next Friday. Lewis & Clark lost to Lake City of Idaho 45-21 on Friday.
