YAKIMA, Wash. - Riley Lublin struck out eight in four-plus innings and had a two-run triple as West Valley defeated Davis 5-1 in a CBBN district play-in baseball game on Tuesday at West Valley.

The third-seeded Rams (14-7) will host No. 4 Eastmont, which eliminated Eisenhower 10-4, on Friday in another loser-out contest at 5 p.m.

Lublin and Sammy Hitchcock combined for 12 strikeouts, and Tanner Cline helped spark the offense with a double and solo home run. Spencer Bailey also contributed a double and triple for the Rams, who jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning.

Gabriel DeJesus, Brock Williams and David Parales had two hits each for Davis, which ended its season at 6-15.

Sean Coyne drove in five runs and Gavin Christopherson had two doubles and scored two runs for Naches Valley (19-1), which hosts Connell in a semifinal game on Friday at 4 p.m.

Yates fans 12 for Davis

Taylor Yates pitched a complete game with 12 strikeouts and was 2 for 4 with a double to help Davis beat West Valley 11-8 in CBBN play on Tuesday at Kiwanis Park.

The Pirates had an 8-1 lead before WV rallied with seven runs in the top of the sixth, which included a three-run triple by Yates’ younger sister Sydney Yates.

But Davis answered with three runs in the bottom of the sixth to earn the victory, which moves the Pirates into a three-way tie for fourth with Eisenhower and West Valley at 5-11.

Davis concludes the regular season with a doubleheader at West Valley on Friday.

SELAH — Max Turnquist and Dylan Bissell shared medalist honors to lead West Valley to victory in the final CBBN boys POD competition and lock up the league title for the Rams on Tuesday at Yakima Elks.

Turnquist and Bissell both shot 2-over 73s for West Valley, which posted a 16-stroke win over runner-up Eastmont. Turnquist won six of the seven conference meets.

The district tournament is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday at Apple Tree.
