SELAH, Wash. — Great defense, high winds and dropping temperatures kept the goal-scorers at bay throughout regulation and beyond Tuesday night, but Baily Thompson finally broke through to keep Selah’s girls soccer team unbeaten by the narrowest of margins.

Thompson found the net on an assist from Isabelle Moultray in the second overtime and 88th minute overall to lift the Vikings to a 1-0 victory over East Valley in CWAC play at Karl Graf Stadium.

Selah improved to 3-0 in league and 10-0 for the season and will host Prosser on Thursday.

Goalkeepers MaKenzie Mellick and Zoey Harding each made four saves for East Valley (1-2, 4-6), which hosts Ephrata on Thursday.

Mustangs outlast Selah in 5

PROSSER — In a back-and-forth duel that went the distance and then some, Prosser outlasted Selah in a five-set battle with Ashley Ripplinger’s 23 kills leading the way in CWAC volleyball Tuesday night at Bowden Court.

Jenna Schnellbach and Grace Meirndorf combined for 29 kills and 41 digs for the Mustangs, who prevailed 31-29, 24-26, 25-23, 19-25, 15-13.

Prosser pushed its league record to 3-1 and will play at East Valley on Thursday.

Sophomore Addison Scott put together 16 kills and 22 digs and junior Hannah Walter put away 13 kills for the Vikings, who took their first league loss (3-1) and will visit Grandview on Thursday.
