MABTON, Wash. — Malloree Simpson threw a two-hitter for Mabton in the opener but White Swan earned a split by staging a big late rally in the second game in an EWAC softball doubleheader on Wednesday.

Simpson walked one and struck out five to lead Mabton’s 6-0 victory in the first game.

White Swan’s Eliza Bass and Amanda Carey had three hits apiece in the nine-inning second game, which saw the Cougars score eight runs in the final two frames of a 14-9 win.

Mabton travels to Liberty Christian on Saturday while White Swan hosts Tri-Cities Prep.
