SUNNYSIDE, Wash. — Senior midfielder and co-captain Itzel Islas recorded a hat trick and junior Katrina Kupp had three assists as Davis pulled away for a 7-2 victory over Sunnyside in CBBN girls soccer on Saturday.

The Pirates punched in two goals in the first four minutes, but Sunnyside countered quickly and tied the match at the 16-minute mark. Islas pushed Davis ahead in the 25th minute and her second tally put the margin at 4-2 for halftime.

Davis improved to 5-4 in league and 6-7 for the season. The Pirates are off for a week and resume CBBN play next Saturday hosting Eastmont.

In other CBBN matches, Moses Lake topped Eisenhower 6-0 and Wenatchee beat Eastmont 3-1.

ELLENSBURG 3, GRANDVIEW 2: At Grandview, Anna Engeland scored twice, including the game-winner with 15 minutes left as the Bulldogs moved to 6-1 in league and 11-1 overall. Caitlyn Cheney scored the first goal for Ellensburg, which will host East Valley on Tuesday.

In other CWAC matches Saturday, Prosser beat Wapato 5-0 and Ephrata defeated Othello 6-2.

SUNNYSIDE 29, EASTMONT 28: At Sunnyside, Arturo Fernandez ran for 247 yards and a touchdown and Logan Rodriguez threw for 224 yards in the Grizzlies’ win over previously unbeaten Eastmont on Friday.

Rodriguez completed 21 of 30 passes with a touchdown, and Mike Rivera hauled in 10 receptions for 113 yards.

Devontay Herrera scored a pair of rushing touchdowns, and Jonathan Sanchez had six catches for 72 yards and Adrian Pedroza caught Rodriguez’s scoring pass.
