EVERETT — Cassie Kim’s July just got even busier.
The Davis High graduate shared medalist honors at the U.S. Girls Junior Sectional qualifier Monday at the Everett Golf and Country Club, advancing her to a second national event later this month.
Kim and Madison Wu from Dublin, Calif., both shot 1-over par 73 to share the top spot, one stroke ahead of Carrisa Wu, Madison’s older sister, and Chun-Wei Wu of Chinese Taipei.
All four players advance to the U.S. Girls Junior Championship on July 22-27 at SentryWorld in Stevens Point, Wis.
In early June, Kim won the Pacific Northwest Girls Junior PGA Championship to qualify for the Girls Junior PGA Championship on July 9-12 in Hartford, Conn.
On Monday, Kim had two birdies, on holes 3 and 10, and 14 pars in her round. She also had a bogey on No. 2 and a double bogey on No. 15. That double dropped her into a tie for the lead with Madison Wu. Wu then took a one-shot lead with a birdie on the next hole but gave that back with a bogey on the final hole.
After her busy golfing summer, Kim is set to attend Gonzaga University, where she will compete on the women’s golf team.
