A glimpse of something like high school football finally returned to Yakima County Saturday at the Sozo Sports Complex.
Nearly a century ago, wedged between the first World War and the Great Depression, Yakima had itself a schoolboy football dynasty.
This remarkable performance at the state swimming championships in 2003 was Megan Wheeler’s springboard toward qualifying for the Olympic Trials at age 16. Her 100 back time from this meet still stands — quite easily — as the Valley record, as does West Valley’s title swim in the 200 medley relay.
After spending two fruitful years at the Olympic Training Center, Cameron Guerin is getting her college career underway.
To take the next step up, Jose Reyes was eager to show what his hard work and determination could produce in his final year of high school.
