YAKIMA, Wash. — With a productive offense and a strong relief effort by A.J. Wood, the Yakima Valley Pippins earned an 11-9 nonleague victory over a Cascade Collegiate League Showcase team on Tuesday at Yakima County Stadium.

Infielders Tanner Parker and Nick Israel collected three hits apiece to power a 12-hit offense, which broke out for five runs in the fourth inning.

Starter Bo Henderson was a bit off his game allowing six earned runs with four walks, but Wood cleaned things up with two hits and no earned runs over the final four frames. Wood struck out six and walked one.

Batting in his customary leadoff spot, Parker was 3 for 5 with a double, two runs and three RBI, including a two-run single in YV’s big fourth inning.

Israel was also 3 for 5 in the clean-up spot, scored three times, drove in two and stole two bases. He singled and scored in the first, fourth and sixth innings.

Christian Padilla and Brian Rice, batting directly after Israel, had two hits apiece.

The Pippins continue nonleague play on Wednesday and Thursday hosting the Northwest Honkers.
