Yakima Valley pitchers Joe Magrisi and Jack Gonzales earned all-West Coast League recognition, it was announced this week.

Magrisi was named to the first team, while Gonzales earned honorable mention.

Magrisi, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound right-hander from Cal State Fullerton, was the Pippins’ top pitcher this summer, finishing with a 2.60 earned-run average. In 34.2 innings, he struck out 66 and walked just 12 in posting a 2-1 record. He struck out 10 or more batters four times, including 13 in his final start at Victoria on July 20.

Gonzales, a 6-3, 225-pound left-hander from Dixie State, went 2-2 with 45 strikeouts and 19 walks in 57.2 innings. He had a 3.43 ERA in 17 appearances, including five starts. He had one complete game.

Magrisi is the 13th Pippin over six seasons to earn all-WCL first team recognition.
