DUPONT, Wash. — Cassie Kim may have missed a chance at a state high school championship but she claimed an even bigger prize this past weekend.

The Davis High senior shot a 3-under par 141 to win the 2019 Pacific Northwest Girls Junior PGA Championship at The Home Course.

Kim edged Baylee Hammericksen of Medford, Ore., by one shot. Kim opened with a 2-under 70 on Saturday and followed that with a 1-under 71 on Sunday.

With the victory, Kim qualified for the 44th Girls Junior PGA Championship, one of The PGA of America's premier junior events, July 9-12 at Keney Park Golf Course in Hartford, Conn.

Kim's younger brother John tied for 24th in the Boys Age 16-18 Division. He shot 77-76 for a 153 total.

Cassie Kim had qualified for the Class 4A state tournament last month but was unable to compete because she was taking International Baccalaureate testing.
