LAKE STEVENS, Wash. — Davis senior Jesus De La Torre placed fourth in the decathlon at the 48th annual Washington High School Multi-Event Championships on Friday and Saturday at Lake Stevens High School.

De La Torre totaled 5,481 points in the 10-event, two-day competition, exactly 200 points more than last year when he also placed fourth.

The top marks for De La Torre came in the pole vault (13-6¾), high jump (6-2¾), 110 hurdles (16.76 at college height), javelin (152-5) and 400 (54.24).

South Kitsap's Ryan Thomas won the decathlon and Tahoma's Alaina Brady was the heptatlon winner.



CHAFFEY 10-11, YAKIMA PEPSI BEETLES 0-6: At West Valley, Geoff Edgar and JoJo Gonzalez both drove in two runs in the second game of the doubleheader, which was moved to West Valley due to field issues at Parker Faller Field.

Dylan Morrow went 1 for 2 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI for Yakima in the second game.

The Beetles will open league play on Tuesday, hosting Hanford at Parker Faller Field for a doubleheader starting at 5:30 p.m.

English at QBs

Eisenhower track and cross country coach Phil English will be a guest of the Yakima Monday Morning Quarterback Club at its weekly luncheon Monday. The meeting will begin at 11:45 a.m. at Jacksons, 48th Avenue and Tieton Drive. Lunch service will be available, and the public is invited.
