MOSES LAKE, Wash. — Yakima Valley’s baseball team continues to pitch and hit and, as a result, the Yaks continue to rack up wins.

Alec Gomez threw another gem with 12 strikeouts and Clay Ashworth had a career day at the plate in the opener as YVC swept Big Bend 10-0, 7-4 in am NWAC East doubleheader on Wednesday.

Gomez conceded just one hit over eight innings in the first game, which saw Ashworth turn in a 3-for-5 effort with two home runs and six RBI.

Catcher Matt James was 5-for-8 for the day with a home run and three RBI to help the Yaks extend their win streak to seven games.

Seth Kuykendall worked 62/3 innings in the nightcap with four earned runs, three walks and six strikeouts en route to the win.

Yakima Valley moved to 7-3 in the East and 16-11 overall and will play at Treasure Valley on Saturday.
