PENDLETON, Ore. — Yakima Valley's success on the road continued Wednesday night at Blue Mountain.

The Yaks won 78-66 behind 50% shooting from the field to improve to a perfect 4-0 in true road games and 8-1 away from home. West Valley grad Nicole Rasmussen paced YVC with 18 points on five 3-pointers and former Toppenish standout Jenni Johnson contributed 15 points off the bench.

An early 9-0 run gave the Yaks the lead and they never trailed again, although Blue Mountain rallied to tie the game at 31 just before halftime. YVC, which was ranked fifth in the most recent NWAC poll released Wednesday, will look to extend its three-game win streak Saturday at Columbia Basin.

YVC keeps rolling

PENDLETON, Ore. — Raymond Guillory III had 23 points and 12 rebounds and he led a big night at the foul line as Yakima Valley kept rolling along in East Region play, defeating Blue Mountain 89-79 on Wednesday night.

That was YVC's fourth victory in five games to open region play and pushed the Yaks to 7-9 overall.

Guillory made 11 of 14 free throws, helping YVC forge a 36-26 advantage in free throws made.

Trey Sanchez added 18 points and five assists, Journey Buba had 16 points and six boards, and Kieon Gill had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
