TOPPENISH, Wash. - Trevor Shavehead had himself a day on Friday.

An historic day, actually.

The White Swan High grad broke a 52-year-old scoring record at the Yakama Nation basketball tournament, pouring in 82 points to lead his White Swan team to a 143-92 win over Young Nation in the consolation round.

Shavehead, who fired in 17 3-pointers, broke the previous record of 73 set by Chet Condon of Eagle Butte, S.D., in 1967.

The Yakama Bucks also won their loser-out game Friday, beating Nespelem 98-88, and will play White Swan for fourth place on Saturday at 2 p.m.

In Friday’s semifinals, Lord of the Plains defeated Big Town 119-105 and the defending champion Plainzmen outlasted Desert Horse 119-105.

The women’s championship game will be held Saturday at 6:30 p.m. followed by Lord of the Plains vs. the Plainzmen for the men’s title at 8.
