The Yakima Valley College women’s basketball team went unbeaten in the NWAC Crossover tournament held at Sherar Gym over the weekend.

The Yaks beat Clark 80-48 on Sunday to finish 3-0 in the tournament after beating Green River 71-35 on Friday and topping Edmonds 83-76 on Saturday.

Tarryn Hart was the lone Yakima Valley (8-2) player to reach double figures against Clark, finishing with 27 points, including going 4 of 6 from 3-point range. Hart also led the team with nine rebounds.

The Yaks offense outscored Clark in all four quarters of the game while shooting 48.5% from the field compared to just 27.0% for Clark.

Yakima Valley will be off until after Christmas when they travel to Longview for the LCC Holiday Classic starting on Friday, Dec. 27. The Yaks will play Highline at 1 p.m.

Yaks routed by Edmonds

PORTLAND, Ore. — Yakima Valley could not keep the momentum from Saturday’s comeback victory over Tacoma, falling to Edmonds 92-70 on Sunday in the NWAC Crossover Tournament.

Kieon Gill had a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Yaks, who were outrebounded, 46-39, and committed over three times as many turnovers, 23-7.

Trey Sanchez added 16 points, including going 9 of 9 from the free throw line, and Koby Fulton finished with 12 for Yakima Valley (3-5).

Tre-Var Holland led four Edmonds players in double figures with 19 points.

Yakima Valley will finish the NWAC Crossover tournament on Monday against Portland at 2:30 p.m.
