FAIRBANKS, Alaska — Holding Alaska Fairbanks to seven points in the third quarter, Central Washington’s women rallied for a 68-65 victory to end a three-game skid in GNAC play on Saturday.

Kaelie Flores led Central with 18 points, including a basket with 24 seconds left to give the Wildcats a 65-64 lead. Brianna Phiakhamngon made a pair of free throws with five seconds to go and finished with 11 points.

CWU moved to 3-3 in conference and 8-6 overall and will host Western Washington on Thursday.

YAKIMA VALLEY 76, BIG BEND 60: At YVC, Tarryn Hart put together 17 points, seven assists and four rebounds to lead the Yaks to their fourth win in the last five games.

T’Mesh Mills nearly had a double-double with 10 points and seven boards for YVC, which outscored Big Bend 26-9 in the third period. YVC (3-1 East, 13-4 overall) plays at Blue Mountain on Wednesday.

YVC rolls past Big Bend

Journey Buba scored 29 points and Kieon Gill added a double-double of 25 points and 12 rebounds to lead Yakima Valley to a 94-79 victory over Big Bend in an NWAC East Region game Saturday at Sherar Gym.

Chris Murphy added 13 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, and Raymond Guillory III had 12 points and seven rebounds for the Yaks (3-1 East, 6-9 overall), who led by six at halftime and then outscored Big Bend (1-3, 7-11) 45-36 in the second half.

Central goes down in OT

BILLINGS Central Washington gave up two 3-pointers and missed a free throw in the final six seconds of overtime to lose 92-91 at Montana State Billings.

Jeryn Lucas hit a jumper with 10 seconds left in regulation to tie the game and Tariq Woody scored 29 points off the bench for the Wildcats. They erased an eight-point lead in the final six and a half minutes of regulation before opening up a six-point advantage with 22 seconds left in overtime.
