YAKIMA, Wash. -- Each day leading up to Chinook Fest, Friday through Sunday, we'll highlight a different act from this year's lineup including today's spotlight band, The W Lovers.
This Seattle duo (and occasional full band) is a great reminder that the term "easy listening" doesn't always have to be pejorative. The W Lovers are easy listening in the best way, not because their songs are saccharine or unchallenging but because they're accessible and just, well, pleasant. They feel lived-in and comfortable, if a bit world-weary.
This is music for a hammock near a river, with a cold lemonade on a hot day. This is music for driving alone in the middle of the night. This is music that's easy to listen to but hard to shake afterwards.
The W Lovers' Chinook Fest set is scheduled for 4-4:40 p.m. Friday.
Tickets for Chinook Fest are $95 for the weekend; $35 for Friday, Sept. 9; $65 for Saturday, Sept. 10; and $20 for Sunday, Sept. 11. Only the Sunday program is all-ages; Friday and Saturday are 21 and older only. For information visit www.chinookfest.com. The event takes place at Jim Sprick Park, 13680 State Route 410.
