The award, named for a former publisher of the Yakima Herald-Republic, recognizes a person who has made major contributions to improve the Yakima Valley. The recipient is chosen by past leaders at the Greater Yakima Chamber of Commerce, which coordinates the award. Since the award's inception in 1989, about three dozen residents have received the award. Here is a look back at winners for the last 18 years.
