US Border Wall

FILE — Government contractors erect a section of Pentagon-funded border wall along the Colorado River, Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2019 in Yuma, Ariz. The 30-foot high wall replaces a five-mile section of Normandy barrier and post-n-beam fencing, shown at left, along the the International border that separates Mexico and the United States. Construction began as federal officials revealed a list of Defense Department projects to be cut to pay for President Donald Trump's wall.

To the editor — “I will build a great wall … and Mexico will pay for it!” That was the brig promise/lie that Donald Trump used to dupe the American people into voting for him. It was not: “And our military will pay for it!” So, the wall paid for by American taxpayers does not fulfil the promise!

Mexico paying was as much as part of the promise as was the wall itself. So Congress, and taxpayers should say to Trump, “No peso, no wall! Don’t talk to us about your wall, talk to Mexico!"

The military needs the funding that Congress provided. We shouldn't allow it to be stolen by an egocentric, ignorant president for the sole purpose of propping up his ill-conceived campaign promise in an attempt to achieve re-election. No dinero, no pared!
