FILE — President Donald Trump speaks with reporters on the South Lawn of the White House before departing, Friday, July 19, 2019, in Washington.

To the editor — Are you better off today than two years ago?

Different people vote for different reasons. One traditional guiding American principle about government: is"Don't tread on me." Our nation supports president Donal Trump because we know him. We understand that we did not elect the national BFF nor even Saint Trump.

As a practical matter, within rounding error, the number of Trump's reported 10,000 lies would imply one per hour for every waking period of the current presidency. As effectively pointed out, it is impossible to live like that. If something is impossible, reports of it are logically invalid. The count of Trump lies is a political lie. Not that he isn't damned manipulative.

Good governance shows results. Currently, legal immigration is the highest ever. Hispanics, blacks and Asians are experiencing the best times ever. Low-income white people are making steady progress well beyond past decades.

The reason for government is the security of the people. Right now, more people in America are thriving than ever in our history. That is why, debatable lies aside, maintenance of the current administration makes sense.
