FILE — Rep. Dan Newhouse, R-Wash., center, is joined by fellow Republicans to discuss their support of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, during a news conference on Capitol Hill in Washington, Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017.

To the editor — I wish to make two quick points. First, thank you, U.S. Rep. Dan Newhouse, for not only being an original co-sponsor but also bird-dogging the Farm Workforce Modernization Act to the point of having a real shot at passage in the House and possibly a friendly reception in the Senate.

Second, it is a bit of a jolt to find communicating with our representative so labor intensive. His email address as listed on his website, in the telephone directory and this newspaper leads to the dead end, "This address is invalid. Would you like to continue anyway?" A phone call to his D.C. office was not productive. So, I am using this medium to tell my representative thank you.

We are in some ways wired differently, but today I appreciate Rep. Dan Newhouse, and I just might tomorrow.
