To the editor — The Selah City Council should have severed ties with Wapato’s former city attorney, Bob Noe, long before council members attempted to give him a full-time job.
The citizens of Selah deserved better than Noe. I do not understand why any city council would pay to retain the same attorney who was tasked with protecting the interests of the city of Wapato when Juan Orozco was given an illegal contract. As Wapato’s former city attorney, Noe’s allegiance should have been to the city of Wapato and its residents, not an illegally hired city administrator. The city attorney is tasked with ensuring the city follows the law, not merely sitting in a council meeting while an illegal contract is entered.
Thank you, Selah City Council, for saving Selah from Wapato’s former attorney.
