To the editor — It is early Thanksgiving morning and I am lying awake, overwhelmed by how blessed we as a country and collectively as a community here in Yakima and beyond. Setting aside the political mayhem and views we face each day, look around us as to what we have in our backyard!

We have been blessed to have the opportunity to enjoy the awesome new YMCA aquatic center provided to us by the generous Yakima Rotary Club, we can worship God as we choose where we choose, we enjoy the bounty of fruits and vegetables each year from our farmers, and as the season changes here in our valley, we marvel at the kaleidoscope of colors in the trees and gardens.

I would also like to give a shout-out to the staff of the beautiful monthly Yakima Magazine who showcase so nicely all that is great about our corner of the world. And last but certainly not least, we cannot forget that we are a people who can enjoy all this because of our freedom and the men and women who have fought and continue to fight to keep our freedom and privileges. We are blessed!
