To the editor — Scammers. Yes, they’re out there. But when your phone rings you must realize that you have the power to not answer the phone. This power is universal and oh so gratifying. I'm 70 years old and if I do not recognize the number then I just do not answer. In the case of the most calls I get, are usually around 9 a.m. or so in the morning so I go into my ignore mode. I can't begin to tell you how much gratification I now get out of that. No harm, no loss. Life goes on.

If you really think someone is doing to call you with free money, all you have to do is give them your Social Security number. If you truly believe all that bull crappy, then answer your phone that's what you want; you're a victim in waiting. The first thing that should be your initial warning is caller unknown. Unknown, unanswered.
