To the editor — I concur with letter writer Joel Heinzen’s suggestion that “all voters, particularly centrist Republicans and independents ... look closely at the two candidates” running for state representative District 14, Position 1. The Republican candidate appears to be relying only on “slogans” and an absence of policy proposals.

Mr. Heinzen correctly observes that Sasha Bentley, on the other hand, “explains her positions on a variety of issues including health-care, education, immigration, employment and economic development.” Like him, I have found that she is “not ideologically driven,” that she “is open to the consideration of competing ideas,” and that “she will be able to work with others in Olympia to the benefit of Central Washington.”

I’m prepared to vote for her, and I urge other voters in the 14th District to do the same.
