William J “Bill” Weed, 86 years old, was a long-time resident of Yakima, and surrounded by his family passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 24, 2018, after a yearlong struggle with cancer.
Bill was born October 26, 1931 in Yakima to William O. and Marie (Rivard) Weed. As a child he lived in Prosser, Cowiche, and Selah where he graduated from Selah High School in 1951. After high school, Bill joined the US Army in 1956 where he was honorably discharged as a PFC in 1962.
Bill moved to the West Valley area where he started farming and raised cattle, hay and grain. Bill was a commercial truck driver for the logging and meat industries.
Bill mostly enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons. Later in life, he enjoyed traveling, camping, oystering, clamming, and most importantly spending time with family.
Bill is survived by his wife of seven years, Barbara (Quantrille) Weed of Yakima, his sister, Edna (Abe) Hayden of Manteca, California, his sons: Jim Weed, David Weed, and Thomas A. (Jan) Weed, daughters: Jean M (Forrest) Sondrud, Judith A (Randy) Siekawitch, Joanne M Weed, and Mary E (Roy) Crossman.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Frank A Weed.
A Celebration of Life has been scheduled for Saturday April 7, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the Tampico Fire Station.
