Shaw & Sons Funeral Home
Walter Bruce Dauber, 85, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2019, at Cottage in the Meadow. He was born on April 12, 1934 in Zillah where he met his future wife, Joan Dauber, née Hackney, in kindergarten. After growing up in the Yakima Valley, Walt graduated from Willamette University with both his undergraduate and law degrees. He practiced law in Yakima for 35+ years.
Walt is preceded in death by his wife Joan, his parents Walter and Maude, and sister Marian. He is survived by his two children and their spouses, Paul and Shannon Dauber, and Jane Dauber and Todd Connor, all of Seattle. Walt was an incredibly proud grandfather who doted on his four grandchildren, Celia Connor and Carson, Ryan, and Mason Dauber.
In addition to Walt’s dedication to his clients and the practice of law in general, he loved to fish, cook for family and friends, and travel. He was fortunate enough to see many places around the world, with the most memorable trips being journeys to Hawaii with his children (but more critically, the grandchildren). Walt also loved his retirement home outside Phoenix, escaping the Yakima winters.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to all of Walt’s friends in Yakima who he cherished, as well as the team at Fieldstone Orchard Park, where Walt called home for the last few years.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church (1107 W. Fremont Ave., Selah WA 98942). Shaw & Sons Funeral Home is caring for the family. Memories may be shared at www.shawandsons.com.
