Sandra Lee Welsher, 77, died on July 6th, 2019 at Willow Springs Care and Rehabilitation in Yakima, Washington. She was born on January 27th, 1942 in Alton, Illinois to Earl Francis Jones and Marietta Margaret Coons. Sandra was the mother of four children, Randolph William Tevlin (deceased), Christopher Alan Tevlin, Debra Dawn Chasteen (Smith), and Gayla Marie Brubaker (Marshall). Gayla was originally named Rhonda Jean at birth, and was adopted by Raymond and Jane Marshall, who named her Gayla Marie. Sandra was married to William Franklin Tevlin Jr., then later to Leland Smith, and then to James Welsher. She spent most of her years raising her children as a single parent. Sandra was a graduate of Sunnyslope High School in Phoenix, Arizona and later obtained an Associate Degree while serving in the United States Army. Spending 16 years on active duty in the Army was probably the highlight of Sandra’s career. She began as a truck driver and later worked as a stenographer. She is loved by many and leaves behind fond memories with her friends, family, children, seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Sandra was known for her strength and courage, and she lived life on her own terms. She will be missed.

There will be a private memorial service held in Cougar, Washington, where friends and family will gather to celebrate her life and reminisce about times shared. Brookside Funeral Home is caring for the family. Online condolences can be left for the family at www.brooksidefuneral.com.
