Rory Sims

Rory Sims was born on March 12, 1951, and passed away on August 10, 2019. He was the son of Richard & Joyce Thomas. He was raised by his mom and grandparents. He was born in Osaka, Japan where his father was stationed. His mother came home a widow after he was killed in the Korean War. Of course, Rory was spoiled by his grandparents and loved by many.

Rory graduated from West Valley High School and Evergreen State College. He had a great passion for music, fishing, family and the great outdoors. He was always up for an adventure.

He leaves behind two sons, Jessie & Tyler Sims, sister Joy Swatek, two grandchildren, Tanner and Hayden Sims, companion Claudia Wilson and sweet momma Joyce Thomas.

We will have a celebration of life hosted at Yakima Covenant Church, 6015 Summitview Ave. at 11:00 AM August 24th.

Charis Weber

I was looking forward to catching up with Rory at our recent 50th class reunion and was so saddened when we heard of his passing. He was missed. I will always remember him for that great smile that lit up the room. My sympathy goes out to his family.

Deke Berchtold

Big Roar, as we called him at Sumitview elementary was a teammate in football and baseball at WV. He had a great sense of humor and was always ready to try something new. He played the bass guitar in a few bands. Music was good to him he was always singing something. He will be missed. RIP big Roar.
