Roger A. Houle, 65, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2019 at Cottage in the Meadow surrounded by family. Roger was born on December 7, 1953 in Seattle, Washington the son of Leonard and Rosie Heit Houle. He grew up in Wapato and graduated from Wapato High School in 1971. Roger married Armetha Smiskin in 1994 and welcomed three children into their family, Dylan, Blake, and Kirk.
Roger was a man that couldn’t sit still, he was always working. He worked in the timber industry, farming, and contractor work. If he wasn’t working, he was traveling to a rodeo. He loved to participate in the wild horse races, one of the most dangerous events. He always made time for his boys, being with family was the most important. He was someone that would help anyone that needed it.
Roger is survived by his wife of 24 years, Armetha Smiskin, three sons, Dylan, Blake, and Kirk, his father, Leonard Houle, four sisters, Chris (Ken) Gamache, Barbara (Duane) Groth, Diane (Dave) Pinkham, and Deborah (Mario) Nunez, as well as numerous other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Rosie Houle, and grandparents, Lucien and Lucille Houle, and Jack and Christine Heit.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Wapato Longhouse (1181 Donald Rd., Wapato, WA 98951) starting at 1:00 pm with Open Denomination, followed by evening Washut Services starting at 8:00 pm. All are welcome to attend. Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Holy Rosary Cemetery (Holy Rosary Rd., Moxee, WA 98936) at 11:00 am.
