Ricky Lee Sampson (59) of Seattle passed away at Swedish First Hill Hospital on Saturday October 5, 2019 surrounded by his family. Ricky was born in Toppenish on June 12, 1960 to Charles and Eva (Allen) Sampson Jr. He was raised and educated in White Swan where he excelled in basketball. He worked throughout the NW as a wildland firefighter. He was known for his artwork, and he loved to travel. He enjoyed going on the canoe journeys every year, singing, drumming and rooting for the Mariners and Seahawks. He was a member of the Yakama Nation and the Chief Seattle Club. He is survived by his children, Adam Sampson of San Diego and Dailene Sampson of Toppenish; three grandchildren, Kanim, Dustin and Samuel; three sisters, Shirley, Harriett and Madeline Sampson; one aunt, Anita Sampson-Lewis; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ricky was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Vic and Gene; two sisters, Lorraine and Rita; and a son, Jerome. Dressing services will be at 1 PM Tuesday October 8, 2019 at Colonial Funeral Home with overnight services following at the Toppenish Creek Longhouse. Burial will be at the Toppenish Creek Cemetery on Wednesday at sunrise. Heggie’s Colonial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
