Ramona C. Gardea (88) of Toppenish passed away on Monday July 8, 2019 in Toppenish. Ramona was born in Casper, WY on November 2, 1930 to Leo and Rebecca (Navarette) Gardea. Her family moved to Toppenish when she was a young girl, where she was raised and educated. She worked as a teachers aide in the Maria Guzman Migrant Center in Toppenish for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, music, dancing and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Ramona is survived by three sons, Luis, Steve (Margie) and Jessie (Danita) Ramirez; five daughters, Monica (Frank) Delgado, Chris Cerna, Rosalinda Martinez, Anita (Gonzalo) Macias, and Angelina (Saul) Silva; 28 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren; a brother, Henry Gardea; six sisters, Virginia and Frances Gasca, Emily Guerrero, Elvida Vasquez, Alice Baladez and Connie Kodama; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers. Visitation will be from 2-6 PM Thursday July 11, 2019 with recitation of the rosary at 5 PM at Colonial Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9 AM Friday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church with burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Heggie’s Colonial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
