Brookside Funeral Home & Crematory

Mackenzie Mae Cariveau, 17, of Yakima passed away on July 5, 2019 while on vacation in British Columbia, Canada. Born on March 29, 2002, Mackenzie had a fun-loving and vivacious spirit that would light up a room with joy and laughter. Her natural beauty, gentleness, warmth, tenderness, grace, and positive spirit combined with her unique facial expressions and fun sense of humor were an inspiration to all. If there was a motto that described Mackenzie it would be “Choose Love.”

Mackenzie was a gifted artist with a special talent for metallurgy (metal art) and poetry. Mackenzie loved music of all types and had a special fondness for the ukulele. She attended Eisenhower High School where she had just completed her junior year and was an active member of Stone Church Youth.

Mackenzie is survived by her sisters, Caitlin and Amber, and her brother, Jarrod. She was preceded in death by her parents, LaRenda and Mark. Mackenzie was loved by many friends, family, teachers, pastors, and mentors who will all miss her greatly.
