Evelyn Jean (Thomas) Wyles

Evelyn Jean (Thomas) Wyles, age 95, born in Hoquim, WA on Sept. 12, 1923, died March 23, 2019 in Wenatchee, WA.

Her parents, A.J. and Ruth Thomas, purchased the Teapot Dome service station and The Oasis grocery store in 1928 from the builder Jack Ainsworth. Ainsworth built the station in 1922.

Evelyn washed windows for her dad when cars and trucks had running boards.

She graduated from Orchardvale Grade School and Zillah High School.

After high school, she worked at the Red & White Grocery in Zillah.

She married Dale Wyles on July 9, 1943. They had two boys and two girls, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers Richard and George.
