Edwin Ramon Torres-Pagan

Brookside Funeral Home & Crematory

Edwin left this world suddenly and far too soon on Thursday, October 27th, 2016. He was born in 1952 at the Army hospital in Fort Brooke, Puerto Rico, to proud parents Ramón and Carmen. Edwin grew-up with his two sisters and younger brother in Bayamón, PR, as well as countries such as France and Germany where his father was stationed during his career service in the U.S. Army. Edwin loved Puerto Rico, but left in 1978 to pursue his passion for Aerospace Science at Central Washington University. Little did he know that the family, community and career he found in Ellensburg would lead him to stay. As a student he worked for CWU Dining Services and quickly moved-up in positions of more and more responsibility. At the time of his passing, he was the Senior Manager at North Village Dining Hall. Edwin loved his work and the university; throughout his decades with CWU Dining Services he touched the lives of hundreds of students and staff who either worked with him or just knew him from his big smile and hearty laugh.

Edwin was passionately devoted to his family, especially his daughter Brianda Noelle Torres-Traylor. He loved being involved with her activities, schooling, friends and overall just being her “Pop”! He instilled in her his compassion for others, love of learning, and fierce work ethic. Brianda always knew that she was supported and cherished by her father, inspired and elevated by his positivity and gratitude for the blessings and beauty of life. Edwin maintained a strong and loving relationship with his father and familia in Puerto Rico, visiting as often as he could and keeping them in his heart and prayers every day. He deeply cherished the memory of his mother and his oldest sister, Yvette. Edwin also had a profound network of adopted family in Washington, from his beloved friends in college to those at the VFW and Moose Lodge in Ellensburg.

Along with Brianda, Edwin is survived by his father Ramón, stepmother Annie, sister Mildred, brother William, nieces, nephews, close friends and his companion, Gabriel El Gato. He joins his mother Carmen, sister Yvette, and many he held dear as angels looking over us. Friends and family will all remember him as the father, son, brother and friend who was always there whenever needed, no matter what.

A celebration of Edwin’s life will be held at the Moose Lodge in Ellensburg on Saturday, November 5th from 1:00-4:00 pm. We invite anyone whose life Edwin touched to join as we honor his memory through stories, music and laughter. Dishes to share are welcomed and appreciated. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice. Thank you to Brookside Funeral Home for their assistance with arrangements.

Que Dios Te Bendiga y Bendiciones Siempre, Pop. We love you, always.
