Dennis Lusby Worrell

Valley Hills Funeral Home

Dennis Lusby Worrell, 98, of Yakima stepped into glory on Saturday, August 10, 2019.

Dennis was born to Preston and Maggie Worrell in Yakima, Washington on April 28, 1921. He attended Armstrong School. When asked if he ever served in the armed forces, Dennis said he enlisted with his brother Herb and served 3 years, 6 months and 28 days in the US Navy. After his discharge, he was brought into the family meat business by his brother, Vern, and there he remained until his retirement. He married Ruby Fenton on November 8, 1947 and they were married 65 years, until her death in October 2013.

Dennis and Ruby were world travelers and he enjoyed many hobbies, including jeeping, RVing, motorcycling, and hunting. He loved cars and was a member of the local Mustang club. Dennis was known for his sweet, sunny disposition, his fun sense of humor, his faithfulness as a friend, his firm handshake, husband to Ruby (Fenton) Worrell for 65 years and everyone’s favorite Uncle. He loved going to the casino, eating corn dogs, cokes, frappes and telling silly jokes.

He has been living at Elmcroft for the past 6 years and he was loved by all who knew him and those who cared for him. His family would like to thank the staff at Elmcroft for their care of Dennis. It was obvious they loved him a lot. He will be missed but we all know he’s with his beloved Ruby (Punks) and the rest his family. What a reunion that must have been! He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held on August 15, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Terrace Heights Memorial Park and a Celebration of his Life will be held at Elmcroft Assisted Living, located at 1100 N. 35th Avenue in Yakima, WA 98902 on September 14, 2019 from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
