Barbara Jean Dibbert

Brookside Funeral Home & Crematory

Barbara Jean Dibbert passed away peacefully into the arms of her loving Heavenly Father on November 28, 2019. Barbara was born January 13, 1942 in Yakima, Washington to Russell and Ruth Williams.

Barbara grew up on her parent’s apple ranch in Cowiche, Washington and graduated from Highland High School in 1960. While attending Yakima Valley College, she met the love of her life, Lee Dibbert. They were married in 1963 and celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in June 2019.

While Lee completed his college degree, Barbara worked as an Administrative Assistant and Legal Secretary. After their children were raised, Barbara taught Automated Office Skills at the Yakima Valley Technical Skills Center for ten years. She was incredibly grateful that she had the opportunity to see many of her students complete their education.

Barbara loved her family and friends; her home was always open with loving kindness for holidays, birthdays, family celebrations, and many other occasions. Her warm caring heart and loving welcome will be missed.

Barbara loved studying God’s Word; it was her anchor in life. Her commitment to the Lord included sending a Bible verse to her entire family and friends every single day and sharing the gift of Jesus Christ with everyone she met. Barbara served in Bible Study Fellowship for many years. As a Teaching Leader, she started the Yakima evening women’s class, which she taught for 27 years. Barbara and Lee have been members of Westside Church for 25 years.

Barbara is lovingly survived by her husband, Lee Dibbert; her son Richard Dibbert and wife Michele, their three children Jared, Jason and Jordan Dibbert; her daughter Rondi Oldham and husband Clayton, their two children Emilee and Bret; her sister Vicki Lilja and her husband Jack.

We would like to thank the many relatives and friends who encouraged and supported our family with their love, prayers, cards, and phone calls and the entire staff at Hospice and Cottage in the Meadows for their support and care.

A Celebration of Life Service is planned on Friday, December 6, 2019 at Westside Church (6901 Summitview Avenue, Yakima) at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Cottage in the Meadows or Westside Church.
