Ann N Keefer peacefully passed away at the age of 78 in the early morning hours of Nov. 23, 2016 after a brief illness. She was born in Yakima Nov. 4, 1938 to Glenn D Timpke and Jean L (Oomen) Timpke where she was raised and lived most of her life. She attended Yakima High School, was a member of Job’s Daughters International and the First Presbyterian Church.
Ann met and married the love of her life, Donald William Keefer, August 18, 1957 in Yakima. They resided in Richland for several years before returning to Yakima to raise their family. After raising four sons she and Don took in three very young grandchildren and raised them as well, often taking in briefly some of their teen friends. Ann worked part time (seasonally) in the fruit industry, in a floral shop and was a banquet hostess at the Convention center. She was always quick with a smile, a laugh and a compliment.
Ann loved caring for her pets, working in her rose garden and putting together 2000 piece puzzles. She was an expert seamstress, was very creative and enjoyed a variety of arts and crafts. When computers and mobile devices became the “in thing” she jumped on the bandwagon.
For the past sixteen years she spent significant time on the Oregon coast with her sister Yurt camping, climbing the dunes, visiting lighthouses, browsing second hand shops for bargains and treasures, going to MO’s for clam chowder and sitting on the beach with her toes in the sand solving the problems of the world while waiting for the sun to set.
Ann will be forever remembered as having a kind generous spirit and a heart of gold, always one to share what she had. She was a woman of faith and loved her GOD first and foremost. She was a devoted wife and viewed her most important role as that of a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 59 years; sons, Don W Keefer (Hannah) of Tacoma, Wa., Glen R Keefer (Irene), Ronald R Keefer (Donna) and Kenneth W Keefer all of Yakima; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; her brother Teunis J Timpke of Yakima; loving sister and best friend Audrey J Latta (Glenn) of Milwaukie, Or.; nieces /nephews, neighbors and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Glenn D.W Timpke and grandson Craig L Keefer. A memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday, December 8th at Bethel Church of the Nazarene, 1103 W. Mead Ave., Yakima, Wa.
