MERCER ISLAND, Wash. (AP) — Authorities say a man drowned after he fell off his paddleboard on Lake Washington near Seattle.
KOMO-TV reports dive teams recovered the body of the 47-year-old man Sunday after he vanished under the water near Luther Burbank Park on Mercer Island.
Vanchan Houn says her husband Bradley Wells tried to help the man after they saw him struggling to stay on the board.
Wells says he swam to the man but the man disappeared in the water when he got there.
Mercer Island Police Commander Jeff Magnan says divers found the man at a depth of about 17 feet (5 meters) after searching for about an hour.
Authorities have not yet released the man's name.
