UNION GAP, Wash. — A critical third-set rally turned the tide in a matchup of the SCAC West's final two unbeaten teams Tuesday night at La Salle.

Led by sophomores Rachel Gallagher and Sara Hiebert, Goldendale stormed back to take the set 26-24 against a Lightning squad that had lost only one set all season. The Timberwolves rode that wave of momentum and cruised through the fourth set to cap off a 25-22, 15-25, 26-24, 25-19 win.

"It was pretty good," coach Jodi Bellamy said of the third set. "Then we kind of really took it to them in that last set."

Gallagher posted 10 kills, 25 assists, two stuff blocks and seven digs while serving a perfect 15 for 15. Hiebert added 10 kills and six stuff blocks to help Goldendale (6-0 SCAC West, 11-1 overall) win its ninth straight match since a tough three-set nonleague loss to Montesano in the SunDome Volleyball Festival.

Defending league champion La Salle (4-1, 9-1) won the small-school title that weekend and hadn't lost since last year's 1A state tournament. The two teams will meet again on Oct. 19 in Goldendale.
