The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Yakima and Kittitas valleys, with 1 to 4 inches of snow possible in Yakima between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning.

The advisory is in effect starting at 4 p.m. Wednesday and is set to run until 10 a.m. Thursday. The weather service warns that increasing winds later in the day can lead to blowing snow on the road, making travel difficult or dangerous.

The Cascades are forecast to see another 5 to 10 inches of snow during the same period, on top of the several feet they've seen in recent days, and gusts of up to 40 mph could make mountain driving dangerous or impossible.
