Updated 6:30 p.m.: Four people were taken to local hospitals after three vehicles crashed in Moxee on Wednesday evening.

A Toyota Camry headed east on State Route 24 near Rivard Road was rear-ended by a pickup around 5 p.m., according to Washington State Trooper Thorson Iverson. The pickup then went across the centerline and hit a semitruck from Evans Fruit that was hauling two trailers of apples. The pickup and semi caught fire, which was extinguished.

Iverson said three people from the pickup and one person from the semi were taken to the hospital.

As of 6:30 p.m., SR 24 was closed from Bell Road to Faucher Road as officials move the semi and clean up 50 to 75 gallons of spilled diesel fuel.

WSP, Moxee police, East Valley Fire and the state Department of Ecology responded.

Updated: 5:30 p.m.: State Route 24 is closed after a car, pickup truck and a semi truck carrying apples crashed in Moxee.

The crash was reported just before 5 p.m. at the intersection of SR 24 and Rivard Road.

Three people were taken to the hospital by ambulance.

There’s no estimated time yet to reopen the highway. Detours are available, according to Washington State Department of Transportation.
