Yakima police are investigating the stabbing of a 42-year-old man in downtown Yakima early Monday.
Police were responding to a call about 2:10 a.m. when they found the man in the 800 block of East Yakima Avenue with stab wounds to his back and head, city spokesman Randy Beehler said.
A 17-year-old suspect has been arrested and is being held at the Juvenile Justice Center, Beehler said.
The man was conscious, alert and headed into surgery late Monday morning, Beehler said.
Police said the man was stabbed after refusing to give the suspect four quarters, Beehler said.
