YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima area bicyclists are planning a memorial ride on Feb. 27, to honor Ron Knowlton, who was killed in a hit-and-run crash earlier this month.
Knowlton, 60, an avid cyclist and father of three special-needs children, was killed while riding his bike near his home on South Sixth Avenue on Feb. 6.
Members of Yakima Bikes and Walks, a community group advocating for safer options for cyclists and pedestrians, plan to ride from Davis High School to Hoover Elementary School on South Sixth Avenue. There, they plan a short ceremony and to lay flowers in memory of Knowlton.
The ride will start at 2 p.m. at the corner of South 7th Ave & West Spruce Street.
Josclyn Olivas, 24, of Yakima, has been charged with vehicular homicide, vehicular assault and hit-and-run in connection with the death.
