A commercial structure fire in the 100 block of South Third Avenue in Yakima early Sunday caused an estimated $1 million in damage, officials said.

The Yakima Fire Department was called at 4:31 a.m. and found smoke and fire coming from a commercial building, according to information from YFD. A three-bay shop on the alley side of the building was fully involved, with the fire extending to the main building.

The fire was extinguished by 9:30 a.m.

The initial loss estimate is $1 million, the fire department said. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and the Yakima Police Department were called in to assist with the investigation.
