Two police officers and a man inside a Union Gap home that caught fire were treated for smoke inhalation Wednesday afternoon.
The man had just left the bathroom at 2906 S. Fifth St. when the power went out and he heard an explosion around 2:30 p.m. He tried to fight the fire and was pulled out by the officers, said Yakima Fire Department Shift Commander Jennifer Norton.
The officers were taken to Virginia Mason Memorial hospital, and the man was treated on scene, she said.
The fire was quickly knocked down, but it did $30,000 in damage to the carport, garage, attic, kitchen and outside of the home, Norton said.
Pacific Power also responded.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, Norton said.
